THE BUTTERFLY EMERGENCE FRAMEWORK

This framework supports both individual and group work

In my commitment to support personal and collective liberation, I find the butterfly to be a teacher, inspiration, blueprint, and roadmap for the journey.  The butterfly teaches us that transformation is possible, that the hidden potential within us, our groups and communities, our society, and our world, is beckoning us to be expressed.  The imprint is there, but it takes deep listening, being willing to dissolve at times, and allowing our imaginal cells to begin creating the next phase, to bring it forth.  As we bring what is hidden in our soul into this world, the butterfly effect sends ripples of influence into the greater web of life.

  • The framework has four quadrants and follows the pathway of the infinity symbol, starting in the lower left quadrant. The movement between quadrants is the out-breath and the in-breath, the inner and outer, that constantly feed each other. These stages are sequential but also happen simultaneously and inform each other.  None of them are ever complete, as we are constantly growing, evolving, changing.

  • This framework is just as applicable to an individual growing their soul-eprenuer offering, or a group or organization in a growth or transformation phase.

AN INTRODUCTORY LOOK AT
THE FOUR WING QUADRANTS

1. THE CAVE ~ healing and wholing

inner of inner realm; lower left wing

The healing cave is the place where we enter the innermost realms of shadow work, parts work and ceremony with the land.  This involves digging and dreaming as we bring awareness to wounds, challenges, and belief systems that need to be held closely as you move towards a transformation.

Wholing is about learning the truth of who we are at our core.  To re-pattern and re-orient towards the magical, creative, whole beings that we are, we clear up incoherences in our lives, and replace self-defeating patterns with life-affirming ones, creating boundaries, ceremonies, and routines that support our fullness and get us ready for the journey ahead.

2. THE MOUNTAIN ~ the vision

outer of inner realm; upper left wing

The fresh air at the top of the mountain gives us perspective.  Less attached to what may have been weighing us down, we can see far and wide in all directions.  We can observe and be honest about where we’ve come from, and we can see more clearly where we intend to head.  This is the place where we listen to what is the world is calling forth from us and where that meets our own longing.   We articulate the clear and simple vision of what we see from that place and we sing it out to creation, making our intentions clear.

3. THE GARDEN ~ plan with nature’s design

inner of outer; lower right wing

The garden is an intricate web where human intelligence and ingenuity meet the sacred laws of the natural world.  When we build nutrient rich soil in the garden of our soul offerings and discern which seeds to plant where and when, a beautiful garden is grown.  In this lower right wing, we create a succinct “garden” plan with action steps that are clear yet broad and flexible enough to respond to the inevitable changes in weather, gophers eating the root crops, or an overabundance of kale (-;

4. THE PATH ~ implement one step at a time

inner of outer; lower right wing

This is where we get to walk, one step at a time, down the path of our creation.  We are often creating the path as we are walking it, and so each step may feel arduous at first, but the more we establish this pathway, the easier it becomes.  The path is where we learn how to stay inspired to take each little step that brings us closer to our vision.

Along the way, we’ll likely run into forks in the road, unexpected influences, others walking a similar path, exciting new vistas, and lots of new challenges.  This is when sourcing from the wisdom of the cave and the mountain will support us to keep way-finding with grace.
